Events

The TEER Program actively engages the community in events and activities to help increase knowledge and understanding of the Kanamaluka / Tamar estuary. This includes knowing the species that live there, the impacts and pressures acting on our waterways, and the role that we can all play in protecting and enhancing local ecosystems and water quality.

Kanamaluka / Tamar Discovery Day

The biennial Kanamaluka / Tamar Discovery Day is all about bringing our community together to explore the rich life and heritage of the estuary. This family-friendly event offers live science demonstrations, hands-on activities, and close encounters with the unique wildlife and habitats of our waterways. It’s a celebration of discovery, connection, and the beauty of the place we call home.

2025 Kanamaluka / Tamar Forum - Registrations open now

The biennial Kanamaluka / Tamar Forum brings together experts, decision-makers, and community members to share knowledge, research, and ideas about the health and future of our estuary. It’s a space for open discussion on science, management, and conservation, connecting people across sectors to work towards a shared vision for the Kanamaluka / Tamar estuary.

'Catch-it in the Catchment'

It’s an annual community clean-up initiative that helps protect the Kanamaluka / Tamar estuary and its surrounding waterways. Volunteers work together to collect litter before it can enter rivers and the estuary, reducing the risk of harm to wildlife and improving the health of our aquatic environments. The event is a hands-on way for people to make a direct, visible difference to the places they love.
