The biennial Kanamaluka / Tamar Discovery Day took place on Saturday, 19th October 2024 at Seahorse World, Beauty Point. This free family event invited community members to explore the mysteries and wonders of the Kanamaluka / Tamar estuary.

The event celebrated the estuary’s rich biodiversity and heritage. Visitors enjoyed engaging displays presented by organisations such as the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service, Tamar NRM, Platypus House, Birdlife Australia, AMC Search’s Autonomous Surface Vessel, while special discounted tours were available at Seahorse World and Platypus House, with free entry for kids.
In conjuction with Children’s Week, the day featured hands-on arts and crafts, environmental exhibits, and games designed for learning and family fun. The event provide a fantastic opportunitty for the community to come together and connect with the estuary’s unique ecosystem.
